Catherine returns to the motel in which she was taken the night before, after being drugged, to question the clerk. He has no recollection of her, and says that the room was billed to her credit card. At the lab, Catherine tests her own rape kit and realizes that her sample does not show semen trace. She gives the tampon and urine sample to Hodges so he can run it through tox and check for spermicide. Meanwhile, Sam asks Catherine if she’s ok. Soon after, Catherine and Lindsey get in a car accident; a car races them down and crashes into their vehicle. A man grabs Lindsey from the backseat and drives off with her. Nick pulls a print from her seatbelt. Sam locates Catherine, and shows her a photo of Lindsey tied to a chair. He says he has no idea who took her. Nick ties the print to a Jeffrey; and they rescue Lindsey from his home. Wendy says that a Joe Hirschoff’s (from last episode) print was found on one of Lindsey’s hairs. However, Hirschoff’s hate for Sam and his desire to regain his lost money not only was the force behind Catharine and Lindsey’s abductions, but also the reason for Sam’s death.

Across town, Grissom and Sara peer into the miniature replica of the crime scene while standing in the real one. They notice how the pool of blood in the kitchen is in the exact same spot as the one in the miniature. They also read a record album that is posted to the wall; it’s the music of rock star Izzy Delancy. Sophia and Greg arrive at the scene and question babysitter Annie Lansfield, Izzy’s wife Madeline and his son Sven. Annie says that she found Izzy lying face down in a bowl of oatmeal. While investigating the house, Greg finds sex stains on Sven’s sheets. Grissom finds a marble rolling pin in the cupboard with a stain on it, which leads him to believe that he found the murder weapon. Grissom finds the same rolling pin in the replica. Dr. Robbins confirms that the cause of death is blunt force trauma to the skull. He also finds a key on the person reading “bumblebee.” While, Grissom’s dissecting the miniature, he gets a visit from Dr. Dietrich Layton who can sense Grissom’s relationship with Sara as well as the growing monotony he feels in regards to his job. He urges Grissom to take a break, and discover new opportunities. Greg notes that the word bumblebee is a safe company, and when he finds the safe in Izzy’s home he finds shriveled chicken heads in it. Annie confesses that she got into the safe, found the chicken heads and sold the story to the tabloids. The team also ties the sex stains to the late Izzy and Annie. However, Grissom thinks that Annie’s nails are too long to manufacture the replica. After a bit of digging, Grissom realizes that Izzy’s ex-wife Dusty wasn’t legally married to him; however, if he died the money would go to Sven and ultimately to her. However, when Madeline and Dusty’s alibis pan out, the team tries to tie Sven to the murder. However, evidence points that he’s not their criminal either.
