The episode
begins with Keppler waking up from a dream, in which he killed a teenage
boy for his high school girlfriend years ago. At breakfast that morning
he sees his high-school girlfriend’s father: Frank McCarty, who also
happens to be a Trenton cop that helped
Keppler in the formulative years of his career. Frank says that he and a
friend are in town and he needs Keppler to do him a favor. Hours later,
Keppler and Nick show up at a crime scene where an older man from out of
town and a hooker are found dead. The hooker’s hand is missing. Nick
finds law enforcement shirts in the closet and Keppler finds a 9 mm
pistol in the drawer with the letter T stamped on it. Brass confirms
that the room is registered to a cop by the name of Dennis Graves of
Trenton,
New Jersey- Keppler’s home town.
Before Keppler can think, he turns around and sees Frank. Nick finds
long blonde hair strands in the bathtub and shoe prints; pointing to the
fact that a woman was hiding in the tub. Back at the lab, Dr. Robbins
confirms that the dead hooker’s butt implants should have a serial
number on them that can allow them to identify their victim.
The implants
lead to a Courtney Evans. Back at the scene, we realize that Frank
killed Dennis and the hooker and is hoping Keppler can tell him the name
of the other hooker that escaped before the cops find out. Meanwhile,
Warrick heads to Evan’s apartment, which was robbed and finds prints
that lead to a PJ Turner. Turner tells Warrick that he was rummaging
through a dumpster and found a plastic bag with a purse, wallet, and
keys in it. He looked at the address on the license, and went to the
hooker’s home to steal her belongings. The team sends Keppler to search
through the dumpster where he finds a laundry bag with personal
belongings and a severed hand. Back at the hotel room, Sofia finds the gun used to shoot the victims-
a 45 auto- in the drawer. At the lab, Archie uncovers a message from the
mysterious hooker Suzy Gibbons to Courtney Evans before her death. She
says that she slept with Frank and he kept mentioning the name Amy which
was Keppler’s high-school girlfriend. Keppler realizes that Frank raped
his daughter and becomes hell-bent to put the man behind bars. However,
as Keppler rushes out of the lab Nick tells Catherine that he found a
bloody print on the .45 auto that leads to Keppler. Keppler puts the
evidence including the hand in a cooler and rips the tracking device
from his car. He’s on his way to a motel that Suzy works at to find
Frank. Meanwhile, Brass tells the team that Keppler knew both Frank and
Dennis. When Keppler arrives he finds Frank and Suzy at the hotel.
Keppler tells Suzy to leave and when she does, Frank shoots Keppler.
Catherine quickly enters the room and before Frank can shoot her Keppler
shoots Frank. Meanwhile, Warrick and the rest of the team find the
evidence cooler that Keppler strategically placed for them. As Keppler
dies, the team mourns his death.
