Brass and Sofia careen through city streets in a high speed shoot-out. Hot on the suspect’s trail, the police cars dodge gunfire while trying to apprehend the vehicle as its passengers fire automatic rifles out the back window. When the suspects’ car flips, the gunfight turns into a foot-chase that culminates in the deaths of three suspects and a rookie cop. A fourth suspect manages to escape, all while neighbors watch the scene unfold from their homes.

The CSI team responds to the scene as a rattled Sofia and Brass are taken to PD for questioning. The crime scene is over a mile long, and each CSI tackles a different area while news helicopters swarm overhead and different rumors circulate. When a victim turns out to be the innocent son of a powerful local businessman, all eyes turn to the CSIs, who investigate under the scrutiny of an enraged community.

More questions arise when Dr. Robbins and David Phillips find one of the victim’s organs to be pale, indicating that he bled to death at the scene. And when Grissom and Dr. Robbins discover the angle of Officer Bell’s fatal shot could be indicative of friendly fire, the CSIs and the whole city hold their breath to see who was behind this fatal incident and which side of the law the evidence will incriminate.
