CSI: CRIME scene investigation
Season 6 -
Episode 5 - Gum Drops

Nick is called out to the McBride home, a few hours outside Vegas. The large amount of blood at the scene indicates the whole family is dead, but there are no bodies to verify murder. As Nick moves from room to room we hear the voice of a small girl, but the house is eerily empty. Is Nick hearing voices or is his near-death experience clouding his perception?
Sara, Warrick and Greg compare bloody footprints tracked through the house to shoe sizes of the family members, and account for all of the McBrides except their youngest daughter, Cassie. Two bullet holes in the lock of the basement door lead Sara downstairs, where she is shocked to discover hundreds of marijuana plants and a drying rack whose stock has been hastily ripped away. Looks like CSI has found motive and that the McBrides were not the family everyone thought they were.
A gum trail and a sneaker filled with cough syrup under Cassie’s bed tip off Nick that, like him, Cassie may have been able to escape her grim fate. And when tests come back that none of the blood in the house was a match to Cassie’s DNA, Nick feels strongly that they shouldn’t give her up. The CSI team uncovers who in this small town had discovered the McBrides’ secret, and how a trunk full of pot and an ATM receipt hold the clues to the family’s whereabouts…and their bitter end.
