When Jeff Powell is found dead on the pavement below the loading dock of the Palermo Hotel and Casino, Grissom, Catherine and Brass question what the well-dressed victim, with a key to his hotel room, was doing down there. With defensive wounds indicative of a fight before his death, and white paint traces on the body, the CSIs believe the victim had a run-in with an unsavory character. Catherine and Nick head to Powell’s hotel room, and find a long blonde hair in the bed and a duffel bag full of average-priced clothing. Catherine notes that there is blue powder trace on the edge of the victim’s jacket. A NASCAR amateur membership card is found, as well as trace amounts of cocaine. Nick and Catherine realize that the victim was living large in Vegas. In Hollywood, he drove a Toyota and shopped at department stores.

Archie checks the casino’s surveillance tapes, and notices two neatly-tailored Korean men walking in the same direction as the victim. Nick goes to the high-end boutique that sells the same designer clothing worn by the victim. The saleswoman says the victim paid cash for the clothes a few hours before his death; he was accompanied by an attractive blonde. Hodges identifies the blue trace powder as cue stick chalk. Brass heads to the billiards bar and the manager identifies the blonde as Heidi Wolff. Wolff states that she was with the victim before his death, and confesses that they slept together. However, soon after he left the hotel room.

Greg tracks the Ferrari to a rental car company, and the salesman there says he rented the car to Caprice Inc., where Wolff is employed. Meanwhile, Grissom questions the victim’s boss: entertainment tycoon Mick Sheridan. Sheridan confesses that he awarded his assistant with an all-expenses paid trip to Vegas. Greg notices a dent in the rental car, and ties the black paint to a corvette driven by Randy Bolen. Randy lost two thousand dollars to the victim in a pool game, and evidently crashed into the victim’s car soon after. Across town, Grissom heads to Caprice Inc., a company that stages fantasies for its customers. Owner Caprice states that his employees, Heidi Wolff and Randy Bolen, oversaw the victim’s fantasy night.

With a host of questionable suspects, the team races against time to catch the murderer.
