A young girl is kidnapped while playing hooky from school with her older, black sheep sister, and an Amber Alert is issued immediately. But the situation turns out to be even more dire than they originally thought – Alicia Perez is the only compatible donor who can save her brother’s life, as she has been doing all her young life, and if she is not found, the boy will die.

As dedicated as the entire team is to finding the girl alive, their efforts are for naught – Alicia is found dead, and the evidence pointing to her time of death proves that April Perez’s story of the kidnapping is a complete lie.
Meanwhile, Catherine must deal with her daughter Lindsay’s growing contempt for her, and she rebels by trying to hitchhike to Fremont Street, where the police pick her up. With Alicia’s murder affecting her deeply, Catherine realizes she may have to take Grissom’s advice, and educate her daughter by exposing her to the frightening world that the CSIs know only too well.
