Grissom is the head of the Las Vegas Criminalistics Bureau and one of the foremost entomologists in the nation. An investigator of the old school with 25 years on the job, Grissom eschews computer simulations and readouts for the old-fashioned, hands-on technique and legwork. A private man by nature, Grissom’s life revolves around his work and the pursuit of knowledge on countless subjects. He supervises a team of very diverse professionals on the night shift, and Grissom goes to the wall to protect them from department interference -- and sometimes, from the consequences of their own risky decisions, on and off the job. The congenital hearing disorder that has plagued him, and which he took pains to hide from his colleagues, has been successfully repaired through surgery. ----
