CSI: CRIME scene investigation

Season 4 - Episode 15 - Early Rollout

Teleplay by Anthony E. Zuiker & Carol Mendelsohn
Story by Elizabeth Devine

Directed by Duane Clark

Entrepreneur Mike Trent and his trophy wife Laurel are found shot, execution style, in their driveway, and the CSIs are called to the early morning crime scene in the victims’ supposedly safe gated community. Trent’s body was dragged down the driveway and put on display, rather than being hidden, leading Grissom to believe that the killers had a point to make.

Upon inspection of the scene, Sara, who is struggling with some personal issues of her own, discovers that the killers were lying in wait, which doesn’t explain how he gained entry through the coded resident gate, until Warrick and Nick figure out the killers were on a bikes, and knew the code.

Catherine calls Greg for help at the scene, but he shows up unprepared, leading Warrick to deal with him sternly. Duly chastened, Greg gets to work, and finds blood in the couple’s bedroom as well as some porn videos, starring none other than Laurel Trent. “I bet he seduced her and then produced her,” Catherine says. Trent owned a seamy club called the Acid Drop, managed by the charismatic Drake Snow (Nicholas Lea), who Catherine questions, with surprising results. But the blood evidence, the porn and the club don’t bring her any closer to closing the case.

To confuse matters more, the Trents’ hitmen are both found dead, in what looks like murder for hire, which bounces the CSIs back to square one, again. They decide to take another look at Trent’s business associates, including ex-porn partner Kyle Goode (D.B. Sweeney). But the one detail that keeps bothering Grissom – why Trent was positioned in plain sight in the driveway – may be the one detail that solves the case, proving that Kyle Goode may be very bad indeed.

Meanwhile, even though they are mid-case, Grissom presses Catherine so he can complete her evaluation. He leaves her past mistakes with Sam Braun out of her paperwork, believing that she will never repeat them – but he is shocked when she reveals an even more shocking error in judgment he knew nothing about.
