CSI: CRIME scene investigation
Season 3 -
Episode 13 -
Random Acts of Violence
Written by Danny Cannon & Naren Shankar
Warrick and Grissom are called to the scene of a
drive-by shooting which claims two victims – a young man, who is wounded
and may have been the target in a romantic triangle, and a little girl,
who is killed in her bed by an errant bullet. The child’s father, Matt
Phelps, is a community activist and a friend of Warrick’s, who grew up
in the neighborhood where the shooting took place. Grissom is concerned
about Warrick working the case that involves his mentor and wants to
reassign him, but Warrick insists he can remain objective.
The evidence in the case soon points them in the direction of a known
hoodlum, and Warrick would be more than happy to deliver the guy and
give Mr. Phelps some closure. The only trouble is, it soon becomes
apparent that the neighborhood troublemaker may be telling the truth in
claiming his innocence – but Warrick doesn’t want to accept what the
suspect – and additional evidence – is telling him.
Meanwhile, Nick is called to an internet service company to investigate
the bludgeoning death of a supervsior. The investigation soon indicates
that most of the people who worked for the victim disliked him, and
adding fuel to the fire, Nick discovers that the boss had “Big Brother”
systems up and running so he could monitor all of his employees
activities. But when none of the physical evidence implicates any of the
employees, Nick is left with only the facts – one dead body, no weapon
and no viable suspect.
